INTERESTED IN BEING A WEBMASTER FOR RGHF?

Up historycomment.org RGHF Fellowship joinrghf.org missinghistory.org Webmasters Disaster Alerts historycommittee.org

Since this is a large project, the largest of its kind in Rotary, we need many webmasters to assure our future growth both in handling posting of data and new technology. At present our entire project uses Microsoft FrontPage. That is required, at this point. When we have sufficient personnel and resources, we will look at other technologies. I’ll have more on that later.

WHAT DOES "HONORARY WEBMASTER" MEAN?

The bylaws of RGHF allow for election of honorary members. This means that you can serve Rotarians, through our fellowship, but not be required to pay annual dues. If you wish to be a full voting member you may pay dues. What we are looking for is to encourage webmasters to join us. So this is our offer. Our purpose is and has always been to preserve the history of Rotary.

TOO MUCH TO READ?

As the founder of this project, I read just about everything ever written by Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary. I’ve also read nearly every article on our website. Most of this project was posted and designed with the help of only a few others. It’s time to find more inspired and dedicated webmasters. Reading this letter and following the links is an expectation. Then you can pick what interests you.

HOW BIG IS RGHF?

We have a series of websites with nearly 3,000 pages and thousands of articles on the history of Rotary. The subjects can be seen from two pages www.rghf.org and the webmaster assignment page at www.rghf.org/domains which also shows our many proprietary domains.

These two pages will give you an overview of our activities. An introduction to the history of Rotary can be found at www.historylearningcenter.org

WHAT ARE WE WORKING ON?

Two primary projects concern the gathering of districts histories, which can also include club histories. Therefore, we can, eventually have all clubs under the 532 districts. This is being done at www.districthistory.org

You can learn more about Rotary Global History Fellowship at http://www.rotaryhistoryfellowship.org/rghf/about.htm

There are also some identified histories that we are seeking. Some deal with conventions, others with presidents or famous Rotarians. We are also seeking histories of all Global Networking Groups (Fellowships and Rotarian Action Groups). Those we are missing are included at www.missinghistory.org

WHAT MAKES A GOOD RGHF WEBMASTER?

Anyone who loves what Rotary stands for, enjoys fellowship, and has demonstrated skills working with websites would be a fine RGHF webmaster. Please see additional qualifications at the end of this letter.

WHO WOULD YOU WORK WITH?

Webmasters can work directly with RGHF senior historians, or in specific areas. Once you’ve looked around and found a home, we’ll talk about assignments that you might enjoy.

Certainly one task for all of us is to secure links, to our project, on club, district, and zone websites near where we live.

OKAY, WHAT DO I DO TO GET STARTED?

Visit http://www.rotaryhistoryfellowship.org/new.htm and fill out the entire page. Check an option for payment, and then put “Honorary Webmaster” in the comment box below that.

When you come to the payment page, just ignore that. Then the RGHF board of directors will consider your application for honorary membership. Once approved, you’ll be added to the listing of webmasters on the RGHF Forum. (You’ll need to be a member to see this. Some of our forum www.rghfforum.org is open to the public)
